Our Family Resource Center is Now Open! The
Mentor Schools Family Resource Center supports
student success by providing families with access
to needed resources, building strong connections
between home, school, and community, and
creating personal, purposeful learning
experiences for our students.
community involvement
Educational experiences are enhanced by partnerships between the school district and community.
PTA and PTSA Organizations & Presidents
Each of the district9s schools has an extremely active PTA or PTSA.
Additionally, the presidents from each organization meet regularly with
the superintendent to learn important information that can be shared
with each school community.
Community Movie Night
The district offers events inviting the community to attend a movie
showing on the big screen of our Fine Arts Center and typically this
event is held in conjunction with a good cause.
Food Drives
Our schools collect food items to donate to the annual Feed Lake
County Food Drive, raising tens of thousands of pounds of food for
those in need in our community. Many of our schools also participate in
End 68 Hours of Hunger, Lake County.
United Way of Lake County
Our superintendent serves on the Board for the United Way of Lake
County and all of our buildings participate each year in the annual
United Way fundraising drive.
Various Charities
All of our buildings participate in a variety of charitable causes and
service initiatives of their choosing. This includes programs like Project
Hope and the American Heart Association9s Kids Heart Challenge,
among other student-led efforts that support local nonprofits and
families in need.
Business Advisory Council
The district works closely with volunteer members from the business
community to look for ways to share expertise and better prepare our
students for life after high school. Our BAC was recently revamped and
is working better than ever to create opportunities for students and
local businesses together.
Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC)
A Mentor Schools representative serves on the MACC9s Board of
Directors as a liaison between the city9s business community and
public school district.
State of the Schools
Our superintendent delivers a State of the Schools presentation
annually to the business community through the Mentor Area
Chamber of Commerce9s January meeting.
Mentor Police & Fire
Our administrators work closely with Mentor9s fire and police
departments to develop and update school safety plans and conduct
safety drills regularly.
Kops and Kids
Through its Kops-and-Kids program, the Mentor Police Department
invites children from our schools to participate in a variety of events
each year ranging from holiday parties to summer baseball games!
Good Neighbors!
Our schools often take groups of students to assisted living facilities
or nursing homes to visit with residents and create special projects,
fostering meaningful connections across generations and bringing
joy through shared experiences.
Strategic Planning
Hundreds of stakeholders provided input into the district9s strategic
plan focused on the areas of education, safety, resources and
community partnerships upon its development. Annual updates
have been provided to the committee and Board of Education for
accountability.
