Participation in performing and visual arts inspires students9 creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
>>Hundreds of community members attend our district9s annual art shows and student artwork is on display from all levels at various venues
around the community.
>>All elementary art students beginning in kindergarten have digital portfolios. The practice of using digital portfolios continues into middle
school and high school.
>>All elementary school students are enrolled in art and music classes that are taught by certified art and music teachers.
>>All middle school students have the opportunity to take studio art classes including fine art.
>>More than 600 Mentor High School students took at least one art class last school year. Students at Mentor High take advanced levels in many
art classes and some earn college credit through AP Art & Design.
>>Elementary, middle and high school students participate in the PTA Reflections Program earning state and national awards.
>>MHS student artwork is currently representing our district in the annual House of Representatives exhibit in Columbus.
>>Mentor High School art students juried into the 2025 Scholastic Art
and Writing Awards including two National Medal Winners, 6 Gold Keys,
7 Silver Keys, and 15 Honorable mentions.
>>We provide access for art students to participate and succeed in
local, state and national art events throughout the year.
>>A typical graduating class from Mentor High class earns hundreds of
thousands of dollars in art scholarships for continuing education!
>>MHS fine arts students participate in local and global service projects
including the Memory Project, a non-profit organization that invites art
students to create portraits for youth around the world who have faced
substantial challenges, such as neglect, abuse, loss of parents, and
extreme poverty.
