THE ARTS
>> 160 students par}cipate in the Mentor High School Figh琀椀ng Cardinal Marching Band! Last year, the FCMB earned a superior ra}ng at
the OMEA State Marching Band Finals. Our impressive students always
shine during hal昀琀ime shows and at various events around the community, where many people get to enjoy their terri昀椀c performances.
>> Mentor Schools was named a "Best Community for Music Educa}on" by the NAMM Founda}on. The award program
recognizes and celebrates outstanding e昀昀orts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community
leaders who have made music educa}on part of a wellrounded educa}on. Designa}ons are made to districts
and schools that demonstrate an excep}onally high commitment and
access to music educa}on.
>> Mentor High School band, choir and orchestra students perform in
various honors ensembles all across the Cleveland area.
>>High School School band, choir, and orchestra students par}cipated
at OMEA Solo & Ensemble and Large Group Adjudicated Events, receiving many superior ra}ngs.
>> All elementary-aged students a琀琀end weekly music classes, where
they experience and explore the founda}ons of music-making. In addi}on to performing in concerts within our building, upper elementary
students have the opportunity to play the recorder and the ukulele.
>> In sixth grade, students have the opportunity to enroll in our outstanding band, choir and orchestra programs. Beginner band and orchestra students bene昀椀t from small and large group instruc}on from
many members of our music sta昀昀.
>> The music department hosts camps that draw in young musicians
every summer to expand their learning and our high school ensembles
perform for the en}re district’s 5th graders.
The Arts
>> Hundreds of students are enrolled each year in various performance and non-performance music courses o昀昀ered in Mentor Schools.
Choices include, 10 concert bands, 8 string orchestras and a full Symphony Orchestra, 4 choirs and AP Music Theory. There are also many
extra curricular op}ons for our music students including chamber
choirs and orchestras, marching band, jazz band, and pep band.
>> Talented Mentor High School students perform a variety of shows
each year through our Mentor Theatre program. Last school year,
students performed Night Must Fall, Wait Un琀椀l Dark, and Sweeney

>> Each of our middle schools runs a theatre or drama club program
for students to par}cipate in as well.
>> The Mentor Top 25 Show Choir is now in its 60th year of entertaining our community! The Mentor Top 25 was the 昀椀rst high school show
choir in the state of Ohio and has spent the past 60 years performing
throughout northeastern Ohio, the United States, and many countries
around the world. Addi}onally, some Mentor Schools middle school
students have the opportunity to also par}cipate in show choir
through Shoreline Singers.
