Fiscal Stewardship
Financial responsibility ensures that we receive good value for every dollar spent.
>>The Mentor Board of Educa琀椀on is commi琀琀ed to prudent 昀椀scal management of the school district’s resources with the goal of ensuring adequate funding to sustain the strategic plan and high quality educa琀椀on for our community’s children.
>>The Chief Financial O昀케cer’s department operates will full transparency, pos琀椀ng all 昀椀nancial statements and records on our website
to be viewed by community members at any 琀椀me. For the third year, we produced and mailed an annual 昀椀nancial report to all homes
and businesses in the district (September 2024). Please follow the QR Code above to revisit that report.
Great Return on Investment!
2024 School Property Tax Rates (Tax Year 2023)
>>Our district is high-performing and our schools are a great
return on our community’s investment! We again received a
4.5 out of 5-star ra琀椀ng from the State of
Ohio. Locally, this ranks us second in Lake
County academically, while, at the same
琀椀me, our property taxes rank third lowest
in Lake County.
>>The leadership team uses enrollment studies to track the decline in the student popula琀椀on that began in 1996. This is an important
昀椀nancial indicator due to sta昀케ng. You may remember, peak enrollment in Mentor Schools happened in the 1990s with more than 11,000
students in our schools compared to 6,800 a琀琀ending our schools today. One way we were able to cut costs in the past was to reduce
sta昀케ng numbers propor琀椀onately as student enrollment declined, but enrollment is projected to remain steady in our community in the
coming years. We are currently opera琀椀ng at acceptable teacher-pupil ra琀椀os in order to provide the well-rounded, high-quality educa琀椀on
the children of our community need and deserve.
